Catherine Kanter:
Integrative Arts Psychotherapist (HCPC & BACP)
Hello, my name is Catherine Kanter. I am an Integrative Arts Psychotherapist working with adults face-to-face and online.
I see therapy as a unique opportunity to build a relationship where you can feel safe and understood – a place to talk, think and feel through life’s challenging moments.
I offer compassion and non-judgement as a starting point to finding a way towards understanding, hope and meaning.
I have four years of experience working in mental health within the NHS in acute and community settings and in the charitable sector.
I work with issues ranging from anxiety and depression to childhood sexual abuse, racial trauma, fertility issues, sexual identity, intergenerational trauma, grief and loss as well as feelings of ‘stuckness’ and overwhelm related to the recent years’ global events and challenges.
As an integrative practitioner, I can draw on several different therapy and psychological theories to tailor an approach that will suit your needs, using tools from gestalt, humanistic and attachment theories.
Ultimately, I work relationally in response to you and what you bring to the sessions.
We will spend much of our time together talking. I am trained to use the creative arts but they are not a prerequisite to our sessions.
Some clients don’t always find it easy to express themselves or their emotions in words and I have found that using the arts can offer a creative way of exploring and expressing issues and feelings.
You don’t need to have any previous experience with art-making, just a natural curiosity and a willingness to explore. I can work across several art forms, using art images, paint, clay, sand tray, bodywork and breath. However, I always take my lead from you.
Accessing our innate creativity in a safe and compassionate environment, can offer a new awareness and bring fresh life choices, healing and change.
I work with clients in person in London at HQ Therapy Rooms in Haggerston and Dalston, London E8, and I am also available to work online with clients across the UK.
