Somatic Movement & Craniosacral Therapist
I am fascinated by the body, it’s movement and expressions which have been originally cultivated in dance, where I have trained, studied and worked professionally for three decades. Having gained more insights, my curiosity kept growing beyond the art form and expanded into physiological, emotional and spiritual aspects of us humans. This journey took me to study and practice in Pilates, Somatic Movement, and Craniosacral Therapy.
My practice takes a view of a whole person; we are the body-mind – emotions – spirit. I see the body as the entrance to the whole spectrum. When we deeply pay attention and listen to our bodies, innate intelligence leads us to a path for healing. My role is to facilitate the body’s self-healing process so that one can live one’s own life more fully.
Somatic Movement Therapy
Somatic Movement is an embodiment practice in movement therapy that listens deeply to our personal internal body feeling and experience. In a session, using imagery, touch, breath and voice, we will find our way into the flow of sensations, feelings and imaginations in moving. With the reflective process that could include dialoguing, writing and drawing, the exploration often shows us some insight and healing. I am a Registered Somatic Movement Therapist with ISMETA, having studied with Patricia Bardi in Amsterdam. In more recent years, I have been studying Authentic Movement with Linda Hartley. My practice has also received great influences from many process-oriented artists I worked with.
Craniosacral Therapy uses light touch yet is a very potent way to work with the body that may be unwell, stressed or traumatised. During treatment, mental activities are encouraged to slow down and we are led into connecting to the deep innate body intelligence. Craniosacral Therapy is very gentle, non-invasive and is suitable for everyone from newborns to the elderly. I am a Registered Craniosacral Therapist with Craniosacral Therapy Association, trained at the College of Cranio-Sacral Therapy.
Pilates (Remedial and Trauma-informed)
Pilates is predominantly a physical exercise to balances out the body by stretching and strengthening. Over many years’ experience, I have worked with individuals each of who uniquely needs modifications to the exercises due to medical conditions and disabilities. I am comfortable to accommodate your needs and will make sure you feel safe and eventually become confident to work with the body. I am a comprehensive Pilates teacher, trained with Alan Herdman.
