My name is Kim Metcalfe and I am a qualified reflexologist working with clients in my private London practice at HQ Therapy Rooms in Dalston and Haggerston, Hackney, E8.
Reflexology is the application of pressure to the feet (and sometimes hands) in order to bring about a state of deep relaxation and in turn aid the body’s own healing process. The theory behind Reflexology is that reflex points which can be found on certain areas of the hands and feet relate to particular parts of the body.
By stimulating these points; this can create a direct response in the relating part of the body. For example, the big toe is linked to the head so if a client is suffering from headaches, this area can be worked on to stimulate the body’s own healing process to help with symptoms.
Having worked in corporate companies through my whole career, I understand the pressures that people can face gaining a work/life balance, especially in the sense of having the ability to take moments for ourselves and actually relax! I decided to become a Reflexologist to help those who struggle with time to keep their bodies in balance due to daily commitments. Treatments not only help reduce symptoms of stress but used alongside a holistic approach to health can help people understand not only the symptoms of particular ailments they may have but also discover the cause.
I trained with the London School of Reflexology; I am fully insured and am a member of the Association of Reflexologists and follow their code of practice at all times.
My aim is to give clients the ability to allow themselves some time away from life’s everyday stresses by learning to listen to their bodies. Each treatment is adapted to suit the client’s needs.
