Max Mora Holistic Massage Therapist and Body-Based Mindfulness TeacherMax Mora:

Holistic Massage, Thai Yoga Massage & Scar Tissue Remediation & Body-Based Mindfulness

My name is Max Mora. I am a qualified massage therapist, weaving a combination of holistic oil massage (Swedish, myofascial, and deep tissue) or Thai yoga massage (acupressure and stretching) techniques with a range of mindfulness practices.

This unique approach is to support my clients in the relaxation of mind and body while cultivating calm awareness of their experience in the present moment.

I also offer bespoke scar tissue remediation sessions, which involves massage of the scar using organic castor oil and the application of a heat pack. While the heat pack is in place, holistic massage with scented oils soothes the rest of the body and the mind.

I practice in London at HQ Therapy Rooms in Haggerston, E8.

From first learning practices and techniques to ground myself in my own body over a decade ago, I have been a passionate advocate of the power of consciously noticing and being present in our bodies to transform our experience of living.

Bodywork can be a wonderful way to relax, replenish, and have aches and pains eased.

The addition of mindfulness practices to the experience can deepen our understanding of the interconnectedness of body and mind, through which we can cultivate greater awareness of our whole being.

For this reason, I bring massage therapy together with guided body-based mindfulness practices, interspersed in an 85-minute client-centred session.

Our attentiveness is a great gift to others. Whether deep tissue work or gentle holding of a pained area, present and full-hearted touch is a core principle of my approach. I have written a blog about the value of skilful bodywork as an adjunct to talk therapy.

I hold a VTCT/ITEC Level 3 Diploma in Massage and a VTCT/ITEC Level 3 Diploma in Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology from the Brighton College of Classical Massage, awarded with distinction. I hold a Thai yoga massage practitioner certificate and an advanced practitioner certificate from the Mudita School of Thai Yoga Massage, whose teachers are in the direct lineages of traditional Thai massage masters Pichet Boonthumme, Chaiyuth Priyasith and Asokananda. I am also trained in scar tissue remediation, embodied consent, trauma-informed practice, breathwork and somatic education.

I am a registered, insured and accredited member of the Federation of Holistic Therapists, and adhere to their Code of Conduct and Professional Practice.

I work with all genders and all bodies, and I take active steps in my personal and professional development to cultivate inclusive practice. I am experienced in working with gender diversity, pregnancy, all body sizes, and bodies that carry scar tissue. My practice is trauma-informed.

In terms of accessibility, HQ Rooms has a downward-slanting approach to a ground-level entrance and my practice space is up a single internal flight of stairs. If you would like to book a session and need to discuss access options, please let me know.

Rate: £90 for an 85-minute session

Session times: Thursday afternoons.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why Should I Seek Therapy?

Many people, new to this type of help, believe that they need to be suffering from “mental illness” or serious “psychological problems”, or be in crisis in order for therapy and counselling to be appropriate for them. This is a common misconception; anyone can benefit from therapy when it comes to helping you deal with your personal feelings and problems, make positive changes in your life, and understand yourself better.

So what is therapy and counselling? If you’re new to this world then the first steps can sometimes be the most difficult. Therapy can be a very effective treatment for a whole range of personal problems covering areas from physical and emotional problems, different types of behavioural disorders, through to human sexuality issues and a host of wellbeing and complementary therapy techniques.

Any problem you have that is causing you concern, anxiety or distress is a valid and appropriate reason to reach out and find a therapist and talk to them about it. Far from something to be ashamed of, acknowledging your vulnerability and asking for help is a sign of maturity and strength.

If you feel that you have a desire and are committed to making changes in your life in order to overcome your current problems and achieve more long-term satisfaction, psychological wellbeing and personal fulfilment, then you are ready to seek therapy. We are here to help you work through a wide range of therapy issues that might be troubling you.

Will Information About Me Be Safe & Secure?

It is quite normal to be hesitant when it comes to sharing private and intimate information about yourself with a stranger. You may fear that you will receive judgment from your therapist, or that your therapist will share your details with others.

HQ Therapy Rooms takes your privacy and confidentiality very seriously. Our therapists are required to keep everything said in therapy sessions between you, just like your doctor is required to keep your records private.

For therapy to be effective, there must be unconditional trust built between you and your therapist, and this relies on a shared understanding of confidentiality. It applies to the outside world as well: it is standard practice for therapists not to acknowledge their clients if they run into them outside of the therapy rooms in order to help protect their client’s confidentiality. Read our full privacy policy for more information.
