Diana Borsa:
Trainee Integrative Therapist & Coach (BACP student member
Hello, my name is Diana Borsa and I am a trainee integrative therapist & coach working in the low-cost therapy and counselling service at HQ Therapy Rooms in Haggerston, Hackney, London E8.
My approach:
I believe therapy can provide a rich medium for self-discovery that ultimately enables growth and change in individuals. I aim to provide a safe, confidential, non-judgemental space for clients to be themselves and explore freely and openly their difficulties and challenges.
I like to work on self-awareness, acceptance and compassion, as I believe these to be decisive prerequisites to change.
To better support each individual and their unique experience, I integrate techniques from different modalities. In particular, I draw heavily on humanistic approaches, especially person-centred principles and existentialism.
What this actually means is that I believe each person is capable of change & incredible growth, given the right conditions, and we could try to explore what a meaningful life/change looks like for you!
Depending on the presenting issue and your willingness, it might be helpful to look at personal history (childhood experiences, social/cultural pressures and expectations, family relationships, trauma) in so much as it informs the present.
The past can inform our current beliefs and influence (sometimes unconsciously) how we relate to ourselves and others. This can manifest in difficulties in navigating personal relationships. To explore these, I use concepts from psychodynamic theory, attachment styles, as well as transactional analysis and ACT.
Finally, to better help you implement lasting changes, I use approaches anchored in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) principles and coaching.
These essentially support the collaborative progress of figuring out your desired change/outcome and coming up with a plan to try to move in that direction in a sustainable way.
Working together:
Time and time again, research has shown that the main factors determining the success of the therapeutic process are the client’s involvement and willingness to give this process a real go and the therapeutic relationship. You have already taken the first step by being here and considering therapy.
If this is something you would want to pursue, the next step is finding the right therapist for you! For this, we can have an initial call to understand better your needs and what brought you to therapy.
What I can help with:
I firmly believe in working with people, not with issues. Nevertheless, I understand some guidance on interests and examples of issues I could support you with might be helpful: depression, anxiety and stress, work-life balance, low-self esteem, relationship difficulties, loneliness, life transitions, and feeling stuck in life/work.
I intend to provide a warm, empathic environment for you to explore your entire experience, thoughts and beliefs.
About me:
Currently, I am doing a Masters in Integrative counselling and coaching at the University of East London (UEL). I am a student member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), following their code of ethics.
I am also an INLPTA-certified coach, with experience in personal and career development.
I also hold a doctorate in learning systems (AI). I have spent almost a decade investigating how humans and other species learn and make sense of the world around them and trying to reproduce that in artificial settings. My interest in the human mind and its inner workings and my genuine desire to help people led me to counselling.
Availability:
I am currently available for face-to-face work Sunday mornings (10 am-1 pm) and online (please enquire about availability).
