Eirini Ampatzi Ippikoglou Psychodynamic Psychotherapist London E8Eirini Ampatzi Ippikoglou:

Psychodynamic Psychotherapist (BACP)

Hello, my name is Eirini Ampatzi Ippikoglou, I am a psychodynamic psychotherapist working at HQ Therapy Rooms in  Haggerston, Hackney, London E8.

You are probably on this page because life hasn’t felt clear or easy lately. Perhaps you’ve tried therapy before or maybe it’s your first time thinking about it.

Starting therapy can be daunting, you and a stranger, sharing intimate details of your life.

However, if there is a part of you that feels like there are things that need to be addressed in your life, I could help.

You might not know what you would like to talk about, or maybe a specific image just popped into your mind. Life can feel difficult sometimes, and support can be life-changing during these times.

My therapy approach is psychodynamic. In a few words, this is the type of therapy where we would unearth different experiences and explore them in a safe environment through conversation, dream analysis and symbolism.

Through discussion and exploration, I can assist you to gradually change, accept and manage what makes you unhappy, whether this is a belief, a defence, or a fear.

Our relationship will also be very important and at the centre of the therapeutic process, since it will be based on trust and honesty.

Whilst therapy can be a hard process, I will take it at your own pace. Through consistency, we will build safety. And within that safety, we will be able to shed some light on what might be happening internally and why.

I practice in a way that involves looking beneath the mask, and I believe that by working through the troubles from the past, long-kept emotions can be released and you can feel fulfilled within yourself.

Therapy is a journey that leads to self-knowledge and awareness. It is a safe environment that will enable change as well as a place where everyone involved can be authentic.

I am a member of BPS and BACP. My journey into psychotherapy started with my Psychology BSc Hons at Birkbeck. I continued by completing an MA in Counselling at Goldsmiths University.

I am currently attending weekly clinical psychoanalytic seminars at the Institute of Psychoanalysis as well as weekly psychoanalytic supervision.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why Should I Seek Therapy?

Many people, new to this type of help, believe that they need to be suffering from “mental illness” or serious “psychological problems”, or be in crisis in order for therapy and counselling to be appropriate for them. This is a common misconception; anyone can benefit from therapy when it comes to helping you deal with your personal feelings and problems, make positive changes in your life, and understand yourself better.

So what is therapy and counselling? If you’re new to this world then the first steps can sometimes be the most difficult. Therapy can be a very effective treatment for a whole range of personal problems covering areas from physical and emotional problems, different types of behavioural disorders, through to human sexuality issues and a host of wellbeing and complementary therapy techniques.

Any problem you have that is causing you concern, anxiety or distress is a valid and appropriate reason to reach out and find a therapist and talk to them about it. Far from something to be ashamed of, acknowledging your vulnerability and asking for help is a sign of maturity and strength.

If you feel that you have a desire and are committed to making changes in your life in order to overcome your current problems and achieve more long-term satisfaction, psychological wellbeing and personal fulfilment, then you are ready to seek therapy. We are here to help you work through a wide range of therapy issues that might be troubling you.

Will Information About Me Be Safe & Secure?

It is quite normal to be hesitant when it comes to sharing private and intimate information about yourself with a stranger. You may fear that you will receive judgment from your therapist, or that your therapist will share your details with others.

HQ Therapy Rooms takes your privacy and confidentiality very seriously. Our therapists are required to keep everything said in therapy sessions between you, just like your doctor is required to keep your records private.

For therapy to be effective, there must be unconditional trust built between you and your therapist, and this relies on a shared understanding of confidentiality. It applies to the outside world as well: it is standard practice for therapists not to acknowledge their clients if they run into them outside of the therapy rooms in order to help protect their client’s confidentiality. Read our full privacy policy for more information.
