Emma Taylor:
Trainee Humanistic Integrative Counsellor (BACP student member)
My name is Emma Taylor, I am a trainee Humanistic Integrative Counsellor working in the low-cost therapy and counselling service at HQ Therapy Rooms in Dalston, Hackney E8.
I am currently working towards an Advanced Diploma in Humanistic Integrative Counselling, at CPPD Counselling School, which will gain me full accreditation with the British Association of Counseling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
As a student member of the BACP, I adhere to the BACP Ethical Framework and use it to inform and guide my practice.
As a humanistic integrative counsellor, I use a range of therapeutic approaches with clients including Person-Centered Therapy, Transactional Analysis (TA), Psychodynamic Counselling and Gestalt.
Every client is unique, so it’s useful to have this range of techniques available so the session can be tailored to the individual.
The client is the expert on themselves, my role is to provide a non-judgmental, supportive, empathetic environment where the client feels understood and we can build a trusting relationship. This relationship will help the client to feel held enough to explore their emotions, experiences and beliefs in a safe space.
Through this exploration, clients can gain a better understanding of themselves, their coping mechanisms, their relationships and the way they process emotions.
I have experience working with individuals from a range of ethnicities, religions, genders and sexualities covering different topics, including but not exclusively, anxiety, depression, stress, sexuality, relationship difficulties, trauma, low self-esteem, gender identity and loss.
I am genuine, warm and caring. I practise in a non-discriminatory way by continuously reflecting on the influence and experience that gender, race, sexuality, age, dis/ability, class, religion etc. brings and how that has shaped myself and others.
I will move with you at a pace that feels comfortable to you through questioning, advanced empathy and encouraging open honest communication.
Together we can explore patterns, difficult emotions, held beliefs, past experiences etc., that may still need to be processed or challenged.
Starting counselling can be a difficult step, but this relationship and space can empower you to make changes that you feel are necessary when you are ready to make them. I look forward to meeting and getting to know you.
