This adaptable evergreen shrub needs a regular water schedule to ensure the growth of a mature root system. After the mature root system is established, watering is needed occasionally, except during a drought, watering is needed regularly. Shearing is recommended to maintain desired shape. Red tip photinia shrubs generally do well in sunny conditions and have a good tolerance for drought. They will tolerate some shade, but dense shade makes them susceptible to fungal diseases.
