The P-51 Mustang and The Modern Nose Art: from Warbird Pinup Girls Paperback – August 8, 2024

The P-51 Mustang fighter was invaluable to the Allied victory, enabling resumption of strategic bombing after heavy losses suffered by unescorted bombers in 1943.Its range was so large that it even began to replace the British Spitfire towards the end of the war. Developed for export to Britain, models modified by the British to use Rolls-Royce Merlin engines became America's most capable wartime fighters.It was after the original Allison engines were replaced with Rolls-Royce Merlin engines that the plane became the effective fighter we know it as today. With the new engine, the plane was able to take part in long range operations without losing any performance. This book is a tribute to the P-51 Mustangs featured in the work of photographer Christian Kieffer and the beautiful ladies who graced them. Working with Christian introduced me to these aircraft, and in this book, you will learn more about each featured Mustang’s background and view the beautiful images we created of them.
