Low-Cost Therapy & Counselling Services

How To Find Low-Cost Therapy and Counselling near me: HQ Therapy provides an affordable Low-Cost Therapy service in London, Hackney E8, we offer clients counselling, psychotherapy and coaching (either face-to-face or online) at a discounted rate for those who are struggling financially.

Our discounted therapy rates start from £17 per session and are carried out by experienced trainees who are currently undertaking a Postgraduate Diploma at the University of East London, Metanoia, the Institute for Therapy in Education, or a similar qualification elsewhere.

Before you start therapy sessions you will first need to undertake a Low-Cost Client Therapy Assessment with one of our trained assessment counsellors in order to explore the reasons you’re seeking therapy, an understanding of your difficulties and identify your goals in order to place you with the right low-cost therapist.

If you feel are still unsure whether you are ready to take this first step into therapy and take an assessment then our Help Section is available for you to contact us with any questions and information you feel you might need to help you make a decision.

Therapists & Counsellors: Each Low-Cost Therapy practitioner brings with them a wealth of experience from different fields including working with bereavement, children, young people, special needs, corporate coaching as well as a wealth of previous career experience.

Low-Cost Therapy sessions are conducted in the same way as full-paying sessions, dealing with any physical and emotional issues, behavioural disorders and human sexuality issues a client may be experiencing. All trainees are supervised by the University that the trainee attends. Trainee therapists also attend regular individual clinical supervision.

How experienced are the trainee therapists and counsellors?: All of the trainees in the low-cost therapy service undergo regular supervision which oversees and ensures they conduct their work with clients safely. This is required as they work towards becoming qualified and registered Counsellors and Coaches with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) or United Kingdom Counselling and Psychotherapy (UKCP).

Client Finances: If you do not have any financial issues, we would still be happy to find a more experienced therapist for you within our main therapy practice. This can be either reduced-rate therapy or full-rate therapy, with more experienced practitioners, depending on the therapist you choose and what you can afford, so please let us know.

Client Confidentiality: All of our affordable low-cost therapy sessions are strictly confidential. Our counsellors practice in accordance with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), or the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).

Confidentiality will only be breached under extreme circumstances, for example, if there is a risk of serious harm to the client or others or when the law requires the therapist to do so.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why Should I Seek Therapy?

Many people, new to this type of help, believe that they need to be suffering from “mental illness” or serious “psychological problems”, or be in crisis in order for therapy and counselling to be appropriate for them. This is a common misconception; anyone can benefit from therapy when it comes to helping you deal with your personal feelings and problems, make positive changes in your life, and understand yourself better.

So what is therapy and counselling? If you’re new to this world then the first steps can sometimes be the most difficult. Therapy can be a very effective treatment for a whole range of personal problems covering areas from physical and emotional problems, different types of behavioural disorders, through to human sexuality issues and a host of wellbeing and complementary therapy techniques.

Any problem you have that is causing you concern, anxiety or distress is a valid and appropriate reason to reach out and find a therapist and talk to them about it. Far from something to be ashamed of, acknowledging your vulnerability and asking for help is a sign of maturity and strength.

If you feel that you have a desire and are committed to making changes in your life in order to overcome your current problems and achieve more long-term satisfaction, psychological wellbeing and personal fulfilment, then you are ready to seek therapy. We are here to help you work through a wide range of therapy issues that might be troubling you.

Will Information About Me Be Safe & Secure?

It is quite normal to be hesitant when it comes to sharing private and intimate information about yourself with a stranger. You may fear that you will receive judgment from your therapist, or that your therapist will share your details with others.

HQ Therapy Rooms takes your privacy and confidentiality very seriously. Our therapists are required to keep everything said in therapy sessions between you, just like your doctor is required to keep your records private.

For therapy to be effective, there must be unconditional trust built between you and your therapist, and this relies on a shared understanding of confidentiality. It applies to the outside world as well: it is standard practice for therapists not to acknowledge their clients if they run into them outside of the therapy rooms in order to help protect their client’s confidentiality. Read our full privacy policy for more information.
