Mashiyat Anjum Trainee Integrative Therapist London E8Mashiyat Anjum:

Trainee Integrative Therapist (BACP student member)

Hello and welcome! My name is Mashiyat Anjum and I am a trainee integrative therapist offering low-cost therapy and counselling at HQ Therapy Rooms in Haggerston and Dalston, Hackney, London E8.

I am currently a student member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and am working towards an Advanced Postgraduate Diploma in Humanistic Integrative Counselling at CPPD Counselling School.

I have completed training in different modalities of counselling. This includes Humanistic approaches such as ‘Person-Centred’, ‘Transactional Analysis (TA)’ and ‘Gestalt’, the Psychodynamic approach and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). I also have an interest in Existential therapy.

My personal approach when working with clients depends on their individual circumstances and needs. Often, I use an integrative approach in therapy because I don’t agree with a rigid framework when working with people.

I may incorporate different techniques such as breathwork or meditation within my sessions if I think it would be beneficial, particularly when there is a lot of anxiety present.

My passion is people. My aim is to help my clients feel understood, validated and worthy, regardless of what they are carrying.  I work with my clients in a collaborative style, towards the best possible outcomes, by conducting my sessions in a completely non-judgemental and empathetic way.

People may seek therapy for various reasons but I believe that one doesn’t need to have a defined goal when starting therapy. Mental health affects us all. As individuals, our unique ways of thinking and feeling for every personal experience has a causal effect on our behaviour and significantly impacts our lives.

Therapy can be used for exploration and to grow in self-awareness and self-actualisation. Self-actualisation is a psychological concept in which an individual reaches their full potential.

Healing from trauma can be really hard work and initially cause a lot of discomfort, but being vulnerable and allowing oneself to work with triggers and emotions is a strength in itself and takes huge courage.

I provide a safe and confidential space for my clients to feel comfortable and at ease.

I work with people of all ages, backgrounds and walks of life. I believe it is crucial to conduct therapeutic sessions in a culturally-sensitive manner.

I exert my efforts into understanding my clients’ personal experiences without forming any judgements or prejudices.

I am available for both short term and long term in-depth therapy and can conduct sessions both face to face or online (via Zoom, Skype, etc).

I look forward to hearing from you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why Should I Seek Therapy?

Many people, new to this type of help, believe that they need to be suffering from “mental illness” or serious “psychological problems”, or be in crisis in order for therapy and counselling to be appropriate for them. This is a common misconception; anyone can benefit from therapy when it comes to helping you deal with your personal feelings and problems, make positive changes in your life, and understand yourself better.

So what is therapy and counselling? If you’re new to this world then the first steps can sometimes be the most difficult. Therapy can be a very effective treatment for a whole range of personal problems covering areas from physical and emotional problems, different types of behavioural disorders, through to human sexuality issues and a host of wellbeing and complementary therapy techniques.

Any problem you have that is causing you concern, anxiety or distress is a valid and appropriate reason to reach out and find a therapist and talk to them about it. Far from something to be ashamed of, acknowledging your vulnerability and asking for help is a sign of maturity and strength.

If you feel that you have a desire and are committed to making changes in your life in order to overcome your current problems and achieve more long-term satisfaction, psychological wellbeing and personal fulfilment, then you are ready to seek therapy. We are here to help you work through a wide range of therapy issues that might be troubling you.

Will Information About Me Be Safe & Secure?

It is quite normal to be hesitant when it comes to sharing private and intimate information about yourself with a stranger. You may fear that you will receive judgment from your therapist, or that your therapist will share your details with others.

HQ Therapy Rooms takes your privacy and confidentiality very seriously. Our therapists are required to keep everything said in therapy sessions between you, just like your doctor is required to keep your records private.

For therapy to be effective, there must be unconditional trust built between you and your therapist, and this relies on a shared understanding of confidentiality. It applies to the outside world as well: it is standard practice for therapists not to acknowledge their clients if they run into them outside of the therapy rooms in order to help protect their client’s confidentiality. Read our full privacy policy for more information.
