Sadie Goodson:
Trainee Psychotherapist (BACP student member)
My name is Sadie Goodson, I am a trainee Integrative Psychotherapist working in the low-cost therapy and counselling service at HQ Therapy Rooms in Haggerston and Dalston, Hackney, London E8.
My intention is to provide a comfortable and safe space to talk openly and honestly with my clients.
The development of our relationship will be the starting point of the therapy work, and I aim to build trust by allowing my clients to experience what healthy relating looks and feels like.
From the basis of a trusting and authentic relationship, clients are able to uncover and share thoughts and feelings in order to bring awareness to behaviour patterns.
I also encourage exploration into behavioural reactions and aim to shine a light on how these might impact lives.
I work with the belief that the client is the expert, and my role is to facilitate the discovery of insights and learnings that can allow self-compassion and positive acceptance.
Choosing to start therapy is a brave step, and I can appreciate that finding the right therapist can be an intimidating process, therefore I’m committed to putting the client’s needs first, and I work at whichever pace is required.
I believe that in order to take care of our mental health, we need to take a holistic approach. I encourage individuals to recognise all of their parts: the physical, mental, emotional, social, intellectual, and spiritual, in order to understand how overall health can be impacted, and how to prioritise health so that life can be lived to its fullest.
Although I’ve held corporate marketing roles for over a decade, I also qualified in Remedial Massage Therapy, and Pilates teacher training, before starting my MSc in Integrative Counselling.
I’ve observed how stress and trauma can be held in the body, and how cleverly our bodies are able to communicate with us once we become aware of how to listen.
Therapy is an explorative process, and offers the opportunity to view ourselves with curiosity and without judgement.
My therapeutic approach is integrative, and I draw from various types of therapy modalities such as psychodynamic, person-centred, Gestalt and existential psychotherapy to find a model that works for you. Our work together will be informed by your goals and what you want to get out of it.
I believe that therapy can and should be accessible to anyone who is curious to get to know themselves better. During sessions, I encourage shared decision-making and offer empathic support in embracing, challenging, and evolving behaviours.
I am currently completing my training to become a Psychotherapist at the University of East London (UEL).
I am available for client work both face-to-face and online (Zoom, Skype etc.).
PLEASE NOTE: I have availability for clients on Tuesdays (between 7-9pm) and Saturdays (between 11-1pm)
