Saeed Khalilirad Psychodynamic and CBT Psychotherapist London E8Saeed Khalilirad

Psychodynamic & CBT Psychotherapist (UKCP, MBACP)

My name is Saeed Khalilirad and I am a qualified psychotherapeutic counsellor based at HQ Therapy Rooms in Hackney, London E8.

There are many reasons why people make contact with me. It may be depression or anxiety, relationship difficulties or break-up, sexual abuse, emotional distress or bereavement. You may be experiencing work and family-related stress, panic, low self-esteem, social anxiety, health anxiety, obsessive thoughts and feelings, difficulties following a trauma, phobias and other feelings that are hard to live with. All those who contact me wish to talk about what concerns them and find a way to manage and overcome thoughts and feelings that are preventing them from leading enjoyable and fulfilling lives.

In our work together we could focus on relationship difficulties or past issues that have triggered your current problems. Additionally, we could work on unhelpful thoughts and behaviour that have triggered your current concerns.

I am aware that seeking help might not be easy. We all experience challenges and difficulties and wish to be able to work through them and move forward. To achieve this, we will work together in an empathic, safe, non-judgmental and confidential environment to make sense of, and work through, the issues that brought you to therapy.

Having lived and worked for many years in different countries such as Canada, Iran, India, and now in the UK, I am aware of the differences in the wider society. Using my experience of being exposed to different cultures, I embrace working with clients representing all kinds of differences. I offer psychotherapy both in English and Farsi (Persian).

I have years of experience working with adults of all ages in a wide range of short and long-term NHS mental health services. I have also worked in educational psychotherapy services offering psychotherapy to university students and staff. I am currently working in an NHS mental health service and also in private practice in Central and West London.

My Training and Approach:
I have a Masters degree in brief and long-term psychodynamic and CBT psychotherapy. I am a UKCP registered/accredited Psychodynamic psychotherapist, BABCP accredited/registered CBT therapist, & BPC registered/accredited Dynamic Interpersonal Psychotherapist.

Prior to my training as a psychotherapist, I spent several years in creative industries working in different fine arts, graphic design and advertisement agencies in Canada. I also have many years of experience in management working in different industries in Canada and the UK. These experiences help me to relate to, and work through, conflict management, performance anxiety, workplace stress, loss of a healthy work-life balance and other work-related concerns, and how these difficulties could interfere with the personal life of an individual.

Please get in touch with me via phone or email to arrange an initial brief telephone conversation. We will then meet for an initial consultation during which we will explore how we may work together.

My Fees:
I charge £80.00 for a 50-minute session. I am currently seeing clients face to face, online (Zoom, Skype, etc) and by phone.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why Should I Seek Therapy?

Many people, new to this type of help, believe that they need to be suffering from “mental illness” or serious “psychological problems”, or be in crisis in order for therapy and counselling to be appropriate for them. This is a common misconception; anyone can benefit from therapy when it comes to helping you deal with your personal feelings and problems, make positive changes in your life, and understand yourself better.

So what is therapy and counselling? If you’re new to this world then the first steps can sometimes be the most difficult. Therapy can be a very effective treatment for a whole range of personal problems covering areas from physical and emotional problems, different types of behavioural disorders, through to human sexuality issues and a host of wellbeing and complementary therapy techniques.

Any problem you have that is causing you concern, anxiety or distress is a valid and appropriate reason to reach out and find a therapist and talk to them about it. Far from something to be ashamed of, acknowledging your vulnerability and asking for help is a sign of maturity and strength.

If you feel that you have a desire and are committed to making changes in your life in order to overcome your current problems and achieve more long-term satisfaction, psychological wellbeing and personal fulfilment, then you are ready to seek therapy. We are here to help you work through a wide range of therapy issues that might be troubling you.

Will Information About Me Be Safe & Secure?

It is quite normal to be hesitant when it comes to sharing private and intimate information about yourself with a stranger. You may fear that you will receive judgment from your therapist, or that your therapist will share your details with others.

HQ Therapy Rooms takes your privacy and confidentiality very seriously. Our therapists are required to keep everything said in therapy sessions between you, just like your doctor is required to keep your records private.

For therapy to be effective, there must be unconditional trust built between you and your therapist, and this relies on a shared understanding of confidentiality. It applies to the outside world as well: it is standard practice for therapists not to acknowledge their clients if they run into them outside of the therapy rooms in order to help protect their client’s confidentiality. Read our full privacy policy for more information.
