My name is Simon Rutter and I am a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist based at HQ Therapy Rooms in Haggerston, Hackney, London E8.
It may be that you feel clear about what has brought you to therapy and counselling, but it is every bit as likely that it feels confusing.
Following our initial contact by email or phone we would meet for a session to discuss in detail what has prompted you to seek out therapy and how the psychodynamic approach could help. This is an opportunity to get a sense of the way we would work and to ask any questions you may have, an open conversation without obligation in which we would think about the best way forward for you.
My role as a therapist is to provide a confidential and non-judgemental therapeutic relationship to help you explore the things you want to talk about and to work through them in a challenging but supportive way.
The approach I practice is grounded in making sense of the ways in which the events and relationships of our lives affect how we think, feel and behave in the world today. In talking this through in therapy, the aim is always to help you gain new understandings and to move forwards.
As well as working in private practice at HQ Therapy, I work in the NHS at the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust in Denmark Hill. My clinical training in Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy (MSc) was completed at Birkbeck, University of London.
Prior to this, I graduated from the University of Sussex with an MA in Social and Political Thought and from the Open University with a BA in Psychology (1st).
I am registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) the professional association for members of the counselling professions in the UK. I am committed to their ethical framework and code of conduct.
If you would like to book an appointment or ask any questions please contact me. I am currently seeing clients face to face, online (Zoom, Skype, etc) and by phone.
