Psychotherapist & Personal Consultant
My name is Emmanuelle Cadji-Newby and I am a qualified psychotherapist and personal Consultant based at HQ Therapy Rooms in Haggerston, London E8. I am a great believer in enabling people to feel able to make the choices that they want.
Unfortunately, sometimes our mind stops us from doing just that. We can’t think right, we can’t do the right thing, worse yet, we don’t know what to do. These are the things that happen to all of us at some point in our lives. Some of us are able to cope with these difficulties, however, there are times when we feel stuck and talking to a professional can help.
With training and practice comes the ability to create a place and moment where you can talk about your worries, as well as your hopes for the future. No judgment, no opinions, just the ability to work through what matters to you, why, and how to move towards achieving it.
How will we work together?
It’s called Personal consultancy and it is a new approach. It has been developed over the last few years by two London counsellors and lecturers and it uses both counselling and coaching. I had the pleasure to train with them for my Post-Graduate degree at the University of East London.
My past experience
In a previous life I ran advertising and communication agencies in London. It was fun, creative, and often frantic. It was also necessary to be very business-minded, which I was, having completed an MBA at the City’s Cass Business School.
Following this, I worked in a Sixth Form College for over a decade. I enjoyed working with young adults (16-19 years old), their hopes and struggles, their attitudes, and their unique views on the world.
I combine these past experiences in my practice – by working with young adults, and with people in high-pressured work environments.
I also volunteer for Mind at the weekend. It gives me the privilege to meet and work with a wide range of people, tackling issues including anxiety, bereavement, family issues and relationship crises.
After 10 years working in a Sixth Form College, I have a solid understanding of the issues faced by young adults, and by their parents or carers.
Life can be incredibly difficult, and feel overwhelming, full of decisions to be made – who they want to be, how to relate to friends and family, how choices will affect their future. Often, young adults have to deal with added stresses, such as eating disorders, self-harming, trauma, or abuse.
I have worked with young people struggling to deal with multiple issues, offering a space to talk, without judgement, but with an understanding of their hopes and anxieties.
I welcome both young people, and their carers or parents. I love working with this age group, as I find their world exciting and interesting – but above all because I believe that, for them, everything is still possible.
I am available at HQ Therapy Rooms in Haggerston for weekly therapy. If you would like to arrange an initial appointment where we can meet up and see how we can work together, just let me know.
