Psychodynamic Psychotherapist & CBT Therapist
My name is Iwa Kos-Surowka and I am a qualified and experienced adult psychodynamic psychotherapist (reg. BPC, TSP) and CBT therapist (reg. BABCP) based at HQ Therapy Rooms in Hackney, London E8.
I am aware of how much courage it takes to work through one’s difficulties, and that every person has a unique life experience. Depending on your needs and expectations, you may want just a few consultations to reflect on what is going on in your life or engage with therapy in order to work through present and past experiences and relationships. I offer safe and empathetic space while trying to understand the nature of your difficulties during confidential sessions. Drawing from acquired knowledge and experience, I will help you to make sense of your feelings, relationships and experiences and work through your problems.
I work predominantly with the psychodynamic approach, which enables the individual to get insight into dysfunctional and repetitive ways of engaging with others and the wider world. The therapeutic relationship would allow you to understand better your feelings, thoughts, internal conflicts, patterns of reactions to the world, and your behaviours. As a result, you might experience a sense of liberation from old patterns of behaviours, and be empowered to make important changes in your relationships and career. A safe and empathetic relationship with the therapist can lead to self-growth and a sense of acceptance.
My working curriculum includes working as psychotherapist in the prestigious Tavistock and Portman NHS Clinic in London, and most recently in primary care in IAPT in NHS. I also held a counsellor post at the Polish Psychologists’ Association in the past.
Give me a call or send me an email to arrange an initial consultation. The first consultation would last 50 minutes and will focus on getting to know each other and understanding together the nature of your problems and the areas that you want to work on.
I offer therapy in English and Polish.
