Mark Kinnally (BACP):
Integrative Counsellor & Therapist
My name is Mark Kinnally and I am a qualified integrative therapist, professionally trained, and a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I offer 1:1 counselling and psychotherapy at HQ Therapy Rooms Hackney, London E8.
We all experience times when life becomes emotionally overwhelming and difficult to manage. If you are returning to therapy or starting therapy for the first time then I understand that this can be a daunting process. I will do my best to make you feel as comfortable as possible. In our initial meeting, we will start by getting to know one another and having a chat about anything you want to talk about.
How I work
Therapy is a confidential space. I’m not here to judge or offer advice. I’m here to listen and to help you navigate the changes you want to make in order to grow and move forward in your life. I can support you to consider how your past experiences inform you today and how they might impact your future, whilst bringing attention to your present body sensations and awareness, for deeper exploration.
I work ‘integratively’, which means that I integrate a wide range of therapeutic approaches. I adapt my approach to align with you and what you want to gain from therapy. I am grounded in humanistic and psychodynamic theory and hold principles of body psychotherapy in mind when attuning somatically and energetically to our process’. I would like to support you to experiment with a different narrative; to discover unacknowledged parts of yourself; to feel more alive and at home within your body. Core to my approach is cultivating a safe and supportive therapeutic relationship.
I believe that therapy is a creative and collaborative process; a unique and co-created space. I don’t advocate that one size fits all.
As well as working in private practice, I hold over 7 years’ experience of working within community mental health settings. I have experience in using recovery-oriented practices and have worked with many people from diverse cultures and backgrounds. I have helped people through difficult life transitions, enabling ways to develop confidence, self-esteem, and motivation.
I have completed my clinical training in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy (PGdip) and I am completing my MA/Adv.Dip in Integrative Psychotherapy, both awarded by the Minster Centre in London. I am an LGBTQI+ affirming therapist and have worked with my clients on issues such as anxiety, bereavement and loss, sexuality and gender, relationships, panic attacks, existential issues, phobias, depression, and employment transitions.
Sessions will usually last for 50 minutes, at the same time each week and in the same location. I have a sliding scale of £60-70 per session (depending on financial circumstances) and a reduced rate of £35 for our initial consultation. If you would like to book an initial session, or to ask me any questions, please contact me.
