Integrative Psychotherapist & Creative Arts Therapist
My name is Muge Erdogmus-Turnbull and I am an experienced and fully accredited Integrative & Transpersonal Psychotherapist, Counsellor and Creative Arts Therapist based at HQ Therapy Rooms in Hackney, E8, London.
I offer a safe, non-judgemental and confidential space for you to express and process whatever brings you to therapy. Perhaps you are going through a transition or a relationship breakdown, feeling low and unmotivated not knowing why, feeling dissatisfied with your job or relationship, or you want to work on some issues from the past.
Whatever brings you to take this step, it can be very supportive to talk about how you feel to someone who is authentically present to you, begin to address the root of these issues and feel empowered to make the changes you wish to make in your life.
I am trained both as a talking therapist and a creative arts therapist which means that I work in a unique way; with creative & imaginative tools as well as talking- depending on the needs of every individual. My approach is relational, soulful and integrative; I draw upon a range of theories including Jungian, developmental, psychodynamic and transpersonal.
In my experience, therapy process can help us understand some of the unhelpful patterns we find ourselves stuck in and supports us in having greater awareness about ourselves, building our resilience, and accessing our inner resources. It is a transformative space where we can learn to live and relate from our authentic, creative, free selves- which I am passionate about in every individual.
I’ve trained in some of the leading and oldest therapy training organizations:
- Post Graduate Diploma in Integrative & Transpersonal Psychotherapy- Re-Vision Centre, Counselling and Psychotherapy with a Soulful Perspective
- MA in Counselling (distinction)- Nottingham University
- MA in Drama and Movement Therapy- London University, Royal Central School of Speech and Drama
- BA in Counselling (distinction)- Bosphorus University
I am a full member of UKCP, HCPC and BADth and abide to their code of ethics. As a licensed psychotherapist, my work is supervised and I am committed to my professional development and regularly take part in trainings.
I’ve been practicing as a therapist for over 10 years. I’ve worked as the Lead Therapist in counselling organisations, founded and ran the Dramatherapy service in one of the leading mental health charities of Hackney and worked as the placement manager and supervisor of creative therapy trainees. My experience also includes working in psychiatric units, schools and geriatric care centres.
I’m experienced in supporting people with a wide range of issues including: depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, body image issues, eating difficulties, sexuality, relationship difficulties, loss of meaning, cultural identity and belonging, life transitions, bereavement and loss, spirituality, and experiencing creative blocks. I also do therapeutic sessions in working with creativity.
I worked with clients from diverse backgrounds, ages (including adolescents and young adults) and cultures, and have specialist experience in working with people who are living away from their home countries.
We’ll have an initial contact via email or a brief phone call, and then meet for a first session. During this session we’ll talk about what brings you to therapy and decide whether we want to work together in supporting you.
I practice in English and Turkish.
