Robert Thompson (BACP):
My name is Robert Thompson and I am a qualified Integrative Therapist based at HQ Therapy Rooms in Dalston, Hackney, E8.
It is rare to feel like someone is truly listening. Sometimes life’s frantic pace means that parts of ourselves that really need and deserve attention are neglected. This sometimes leads to difficult feelings including those of anxiety or depression.
Whatever you are going through right now, talking it through in a safe, non-judgemental space will not only help restore some balance but provide relief in knowing someone is there alongside you.
My view on therapy is that it gives people the opportunity to explore a greater range of possibilities when often it seems like there is only one way forward. I am dedicated to exploring these options with my clients.
I practice as an integrative psychotherapist and underwent my training at London’s Minster Centre. Prior to this I had a performing arts background which gives me a special understanding of musicians and others who perform or work in creative fields. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and am particularly interested in working with the LGBTQ+ community having volunteered for Switchboard before becoming a counsellor.
I have worked at Mind in Haringey and Living Well, and now work as a counsellor at the Royal Academy of Music alongside my private practice. I have had experience helping people with wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties including: sexuality, gender and identity issues, low self-esteem, relationship problems, bereavement, stress, depression and anxiety.
Please contact me via email or phone below to arrange an initial consultation where we will talk about what brings you to therapy and what you hope to achieve. This first meeting comes with no commitment, simply being an opportunity to see if we would work well together and for you to ask any questions you might have.
In my work I offer both short- and long-term counselling and see people for as long as they continue to find it helpful and empowering.
