Roslyn Urquhart (UKCP, HCPC) :
Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist, Art Psychotherapist, Clinical Supervisor
My name is Roslyn Urquhart, I am a UKCP registered Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist, HCPC and BAAT registered Art Psychotherapist, practising from HQ Therapy Rooms in Haggerston East London working with adults, young people and children.
I have worked within mental health and learning disabilities services with adults and children for nearly two decades.
In addition to my private practice, I work within the NHS as a Senior Psychotherapist in adult mental health where I am also a Mentalisation Based Therapy Practioner. I have previously worked as a Senior Art Psychotherapist within the NHS with adults with learning disabilities. I have also previously worked with the Arbours Association in their therapeutic communities, The Place2Be offering counselling in schools and the Camphill Community working with children and young people with learning disabilities amongst other organisations.
Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy focuses on unconscious processes, inner conflicts and relationships and how past experiences can influence current ways of relating, patterns of behaviour, thoughts and feelings. It allows you to form a shared understating with the therapist about what is happening in your life, to feel more comfortable with who you are and to experience real and effective change There is no set agenda, and you can use your sessions to talk about anything that is on your mind.
I work with adults, young people and children as an Art Psychotherapist.
Art Psychotherapy is a form of therapy that uses art materials in order to create images and objects about your experiences, use the creative process to express these and allow yourself to look at these with the therapist in order to understand and process experiences, thoughts and feelings.
Children naturally express themselves through play and creativity, I provide a safe space where children can play and use art materials in order to express what is happening and for these to be understood by the therapist and where we can use the creative process to make sense of confusing and complicated experiences.
Clinical Supervision for Art Psychotherapists
I offer clinical supervision to Art Psychotherapists. I have specialist experience supervising work in adult mental health, personality disorder, trauma and learning disability.
