Tom Hocknell (BACP):
My name is Tom Hocknell, I am an experienced and fully-accredited psychotherapist, registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), working at HQ Therapy Rooms in Hackney, E8.
As a psychotherapist I firmly believe in the transformative impact that weekly psychotherapy can have upon your life. This is a confidential and nourishing space in which to explore whom, and why, you are who you are.
I am an author and also an open-minded and reflective person with an extensive background in mental health as a social worker (16 years +). I am committed to supporting my clients in improving their psychological well-being and their journey towards personal growth and self-individuation.
The therapeutic relationship can have a positive impact on low mood, sadness, anxiety, relationship difficulties, and other life challenges. It is through Psychotherapy and Counselling that we can understand our feelings, and where they come from. Such counselling provides reliable support that can help you grow as a person.
I would describe myself as working from the relational school of Psychotherapy, and consider myself an Independent. I do however have a solid grounding in classical, Freudian and Kleinian psychoanalysis theory.
I originally undertook my professional training at WPF Therapy, one of the leading academic and clinical institutions for Psychotherapy in the UK, which is accredited by both BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and UKCP (United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy). I am a member of the FPC (Foundation for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and BACP, adhering to the code of practice and ethics of these professional bodies.
