My name is Catherine Lemaitre, I am a trainee psychotherapist working in the low-cost therapy and counselling service at HQ Therapy Rooms in Hackney, London E8.
I am currently a doctoral student in existential psychotherapy studying at the New School of Psychotherapy and Counselling (NSPC). Existential therapy involves an attitude of openness and curiosity, care and relatedness.
It emphasises each person’s own experience as unique and strives to help people unlock the skills and resources they have within themselves to face the inevitable difficulties of life.
It is also open to other approaches, when appropriate, such as psychodynamic therapy and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT).
I can work using the following languages with adults and adolescents during our sessions together:
My working interests span all types of psychological issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, low self-esteem, health-related issues, or simply difficulties in coping with the increasingly unsettling world we live in.
I am also interested in the difficulties faced by migrants and refugees. Having lived in different countries and evolved all my life in multi-cultural environments, I embrace working with clients coming from all backgrounds and cultures.
I have a master’s degree in economics and have worked for twenty-five years in the financial industry.
Working for ten years as the CEO of an asset management company taught me how to coach teams and support employees at different stages of their careers.
I have always had a strong interest in philosophy and psychology, reading extensively on those subjects and taking courses over the years.
I am registered as a doctoral student with the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)
