Chris Opyrchal Arts Psychotherapist

Chris Opyrchal:

Trainee Arts Psychotherapist

My name is Chris Opyrchal and I am a trainee arts psychotherapist working in the low-cost therapy and counselling service at HQ Therapy Rooms in Hackney, London E8.

I am currently in the final year of my master’s degree in Integrative Arts Psychotherapy. My previous experience includes supporting NHS staff and students during the first year of the Covid outbreak, and I have also worked with the NHS to offer therapeutic support for people in the community as part of the NHS’s early intervention in psychosis services.

My training as an integrative practitioner means that I will draw from a range of therapeutic methods and theories to develop a way of working that suits your individual needs. As such, my therapeutic practice centres on working with you to develop a supportive and understanding environment within which you can safely explore the things in your life that have brought you to therapy.

As an arts-based practitioner, I will at times offer ways of exploring and communicating your thoughts, feelings, and experiences through creative mediums. This does not require you to have any previous experience making art of any sort and can be a powerful tool to express things that cannot be put into words or to discover unconscious processes.

People will seek help for a wide range of reasons. Some of these reasons may seem too big to hold alone while others may be downplayed, by ourselves or the people around us, as being small even though they impact our lives significantly.

Arts-based psychotherapy can offer a way to engage with what troubles you safely, at your own pace, and in a way that can often be highly enriching and fulfilling.

I am available to work in person and can work online if needed.
