Lucy Appleby (BACP):
My name is Lucy Appleby and I am a qualified Humanistic Psychotherapist working with clients in my private West London practice and also at HQ Therapy Rooms in Hackney E8
I combine a counselling practice (I am a registered member of the BACP) with working in the theatre as a director/producer.
I practice in humanistic psychotherapy and draw on a variety of different therapeutic approaches, and I’m equally happy to work on short-term issues or enter into long term therapy with a client.
I mainly work in West London, where I am happy to see people on a long-term basis or for a few short crisis-driven sessions.
My aim is not only to provide a completely safe and accepting environment for the client, but also to help them build up a ‘tool-kit’ of skills and resources in order to help them support themselves.
I work with their goals, but ideally I would like to help someone begin to ‘thrive’ rather than just exist.
I am equally happy doing walk and talk therapy as working in a conventional way in a counseling room.
I really enjoy working with parenting issues, having brought up four children of my own.
I was also a funeral celebrant for many years and have worked with a lot of bereaved families and individuals.
I also work with clients facing their own or a close relative’s death and have trained with the palliative care team at West Middlesex Hospital.
