Silvia Correia:
Psychodynamic Psychotherapist (BACP)
Hi! I’m Silvia, a qualified psychodynamic psychotherapist working face-to-face at HQ Therapy Rooms, offering weekly therapy in Haggerston to short-term and long-term clients. I offer reduced-cost therapy to those who need it and can also offer online counselling.
By the age of 18, I had lived in seven countries. Growing up as a Third Culture Kid made me adaptable and resilient, but it also gave me firsthand experience of what it’s like to feel different, to search for belonging, and to manage uncertainty. These experiences shape my work and help me connect with clients who may be navigating change, identity, or a sense of being misunderstood.
Before becoming a therapist, I spent ten years in the advertising industry, leading teams in demanding, fast-paced environments. This background has given me a real understanding of organisational life, workplace stress, and the ways our professional and personal selves often collide.
My approach is rooted in psychodynamic thinking, which means I pay close attention to patterns, relationships, and experiences—both past and present—that shape who you are today. At the same time, I draw on integrative and humanistic models when useful, tailoring the work to your individual needs.
You can expect me to listen closely and respond thoughtfully as I always lead with empathy first. I aim to create a space where you feel safe to explore your thoughts and emotions freely—without judgement, at your own pace. Therapy with me isn’t about fixing you; it’s about helping you make sense of your experiences, recognise your patterns, and feel more grounded in who you are.
I work with adults and young people on a wide range of issues, including anxiety, low self-worth, relationship difficulties, domestic abuse, and life transitions. Having worked with children in the past, I’ve seen how important emotional regulation and self-understanding are from an early age. This perspective informs the way I support adults who may still be carrying the weight of earlier experiences into their present lives.
I believe therapy works best when there’s a genuine connection between client and therapist. That’s why I offer a 15-minute introductory call so you can get a feel for how I work and decide if I’m the right fit for you.
I am currently available for weekly in-person sessions on Fridays from 6 pm-8 pm at HQ Haggerston, or online at a time convenient to both of us, and I look forward to meeting you.
