Main Therapy and Counselling Directory

Our Main (Qualified) Therapy & Counselling Directory

HQ Therapists & Counsellors: Our therapy and counselling directory below lists out all of our qualified and accredited therapists and counsellors currently practising at HQ Therapy in our Haggerston and Dalston consulting rooms, London E8. All of our professional therapy practitioners bring with them years of training and a wide range of therapy qualifications and most will have had specialized training in different types of therapy modalities and treatment approaches that might be effective for your condition.

Our therapists have accumulated a wealth of previous career experience from a wide range of different therapeutic fields, ranging from working with bereavement, children, young people, couples, families, special needs, corporate coaching, physical and emotional problems, behavioural disorders and human sexuality. They are there to help you work together toward reaching the same goals.

Before you start therapy sessions you will first be asked to undertake an initial assessment with a therapist. Assessments are a fundamental starting point for the therapeutic process in order to explore the reasons why you’re seeking therapy, an understanding of your difficulties and identify your goals and connect you with a practitioner who will provide the right help you need.

You can either contact any of our qualified therapists below and begin the process or if you feel you are ready and eager to start as soon as possible on your therapeutic journey you can book an assessment with an assessment therapist straight away HERE.

If you feel are still unsure whether you are ready to take this first step into therapy, or take an assessment, then our Help Section is available for you to contact us with any questions and information you feel you might need to help you make a decision.

Counselling and Therapy are not regulated by the government in the United Kingdom. Usually, to become a registered psychotherapist (therapist) in the UK requires a related post-graduate level over a four to five-year period in order to practice (all of our fully qualified HQ therapists and counsellors are registered), whereas in counselling this can be achieved in as little as two years at the further education level. That’s why it’s important to do your research and make sure that you are dealing with a qualified and accredited professional.

If you are currently struggling financially then we suggest that you have a look at our Low-Cost Therapy (experienced trainees who are currently undertaking a Postgraduate Diploma) and Reduced Rate Therapy (qualified therapists offering concessions to students, or those on low incomes) counselling directory options and get in touch with us to discuss your options.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why Should I Seek Main (Qualified) Therapy & Counselling?

Many people, new to this type of help, believe that they need to be suffering from “mental illness” or serious “psychological problems”, or be in crisis in order for therapy and counselling to be appropriate for them. This is a common misconception; anyone can benefit from therapy when it comes to helping you deal with your personal feelings and problems, make positive changes in your life, and understand yourself better.

So what are therapy and counselling? If you’re new to this world then the first steps can sometimes be the most difficult. Therapy can be a very effective treatment for a whole range of personal problems covering areas from physical and emotional problems, different types of behavioural disorders, through to human sexuality issues and a host of wellbeing and complementary therapy techniques.

Any problem you have that is causing you concern, anxiety or distress is a valid and appropriate reason to reach out and find a therapist and talk to them about it. Far from something to be ashamed of, acknowledging your vulnerability and asking for help is a sign of maturity and strength.

If you feel that you have a desire and are committed to making changes in your life in order to overcome your current problems and achieve more long-term satisfaction, psychological wellbeing and personal fulfilment, then you are ready to seek therapy. We are here to help you work through a wide range of therapy issues that might be troubling you.

Will Information About Me Be Safe & Secure?

It is not unusual for some people to be hesitant when it comes to sharing private and intimate information about themselves when it comes to talking with a stranger. You may fear that you might receive judgment from the therapist, or that your  therapist is going to share their details with others.

HQ Therapy takes your privacy and confidentiality very seriously, our therapists are required to maintain complete confidentiality about everything said in therapy sessions between both of you, exactly like your doctor is required to keep your records private.

For therapy to work well and be 100% effective, there has to be unconditional trust built between the client and their therapist. This applies to the outside world as well, it is standard practice that therapists will make an effort not to acknowledge their clients if they run into them outside of the therapy rooms in order to help protect their client’s confidentiality.
