Chloe Yu:
Counselling Psychologist in Training (BACP)
Hi, my name is Chloe Yu and I am a fully registered member of BACP and a third-year trainee counselling psychologist with New School of Psychotherapy and Counselling & Middlesex University, specialising in existential and humanistic counselling and therapy.
Part of the challenge of being human is that we will all encounter emotional difficulties from time to time; disappointments, heartaches and suffering are all part of the rhythm and reality of life.
Sometimes, life can feel deeply overwhelming, and other times, we seem to be trapped in never-ending repetitive patterns that we do not seem to be able to break away from on our own.
During these difficult moments, external intervention and/or support, in the form of counselling or therapy, delivered by a trained and non-judgemental professional, can often prove to be an invaluable avenue for us to explore our thoughts and feelings with clarity, examining our way of being in the world and directing our search for a new way forward.
Paradoxically, personal crisis, although deeply painful and troubling, often presents a unique opportunity for us to deepen self-understanding and enhance our personal development, precisely through making sense and finding meaning in the pain and suffering we endure.
As a counsellor and counselling psychologist in training, I recognise people come to counselling and therapy for a wide range of purposes, be it to nurse a broken heart, ease emotional pains or find a purpose in life, and so many more.
My way of working is underpinned by trust, respect and equality, and I strive to work collaboratively with my clients to tailor their goals in therapy and work collectively to achieve them.
Therapy is ultimately a conversation with purpose and my conversational style is warm, engaging and stimulating. I would describe my therapeutic style as compassion-focused and insight-oriented, and I strive to deliver both emotional healing and insight and clarity for my clients through open and meaningful dialogue.
