Eliza Wade:
Counsellor and Psychotherapist (NCPS)
I am an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist, registered with the NCPS. I hold a Master’s in Counselling and Psychotherapy and a Bachelor’s in Psychological Science. My experience spans working as a school counsellor in multiple educational settings and providing private therapy for young adults.
Adolescence and young adulthood are transformative yet often disorienting stages of life. The pressure to define who we are, navigate changing relationships, and step into new responsibilities can be overwhelming.
These transitions can bring about struggles with anxiety, depression, self-worth, body image, grief, trauma, and emotional regulation. Sometimes, clients come to therapy feeling lost but unable to articulate exactly what they need—and that’s completely okay.
Part of my work is helping clients untangle these feelings. Together, we explore how life experiences, relationships, and societal expectations have shaped their beliefs and ways of being.
For example, a client may feel anxious in relationships but not fully understand why—through therapy, we might uncover underlying fears of abandonment or past experiences that have shaped their expectations of connection.
Another client might struggle with self-criticism, not realising how deeply ingrained perfectionism or external validation has become in their sense of worth. By bringing these patterns into awareness, therapy creates space for self-understanding, self-compassion, and change.
I am deeply passionate about my work and advocating for mental health. No one should have to struggle alone, and I believe that therapy should be an accessible and supportive space where individuals feel seen, heard, and empowered. Mental health challenges can feel isolating, but with the right support, they can be navigated in a way that fosters growth and resilience.
I use a tailored approach that integrates schema therapy to explore deep-seated beliefs and systems therapy to understand how clients relate to those around them. In addition, I draw from a range of therapeutic modalities, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients build psychological flexibility, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to challenge unhelpful thought patterns, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to develop emotional regulation and distress tolerance skills, narrative therapy to reshape the stories we tell about ourselves, and Gestalt techniques to bring awareness to present-moment experiences.
I believe therapy is a collaborative process, one that doesn’t impose rigid solutions but instead fosters self-awareness, emotional resilience, and meaningful personal growth. Finding the right therapist is an important step, and I understand that it can feel daunting. I offer a free phone consultation to explore whether my approach is the right fit for you.
