Tina Speed:
Individual & Couples Counsellor (BACP)
I’m a fully qualified Psychotherapeutic Counsellor (Co. Dip) and Accredited Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP Accred). I offer in-person counselling for those who want to talk in a neutral space, away from their home and everyday life and online counselling for those who prefer to communicate by phone or video.
I support couples to strengthen and repair their relationships through developing shared goals and expectations, commitment, clear communication and respect. I support individuals to build resilience, confidence and self-worth by drawing on their courage, curiosity and compassion. I often work with those who experience anxiety, overwhelm, loss, burnout and relationship challenges.
I believe that therapy can support us to explore our feelings and behaviours, relationships, and experiences. It involves noticing and sometimes challenging the ways we think about ourselves, those around us, and the situations we find ourselves in. Over time, this new awareness can empower us to be ourselves and to be more resilient to the outside world.
My therapy model draws on a range of approaches and tools that allow me to respond to different needs and preferred ways of working. The psychodynamic aspect involves looking to our past to give us more choice over how we think, feel and behave in the present. The systemic aspect involves exploring how we make meaning of the world to allow us to develop new perspectives.
The person-centred aspect involves using our knowledge of ourselves and our experiences to find understanding and direction.
Inspired by my own experience of therapy, I now support people to imagine and work towards changes they’d like to see in their lives. This follows a career in the music industry supporting artists to realise their creative ideas and ambitions, and I continue to often work with those for whom music is an important part of their lives.
I have experience working within MIND, the NHS, Solace Women’s Aid, and am currently volunteering with the Family and Relationship Centre (previously Relate). I’m committed to an ethical framework that ensures my work is safe and puts your wellbeing and choices at the centre of any work we do.
The first step towards finding out if we could do some useful therapeutic work together would be to arrange an initial conversation. This would be a moment to share information, discuss how we might work together, and get a feel for what it’s like to talk. This conversation would be at no cost and with no pressure to commit to further sessions.
I offer time-limited therapy and open-ended therapy with regular reviews to make sure that we’re both satisfied with how the work is going. I encourage people to attend counselling on the same day at the same time each week. This is because regular therapy is often the most effective way to make a positive change.
Individual sessions are priced at £60 and Couples sessions at £90 for a 50-minute session.
