Wafaa Ibrahim:
Trainee Psychodynamic Psychotherapist (BACP student member)
Hello, my name is Wafaa Ibrahim, and I am a trainee psychodynamic psychotherapist offering long-term, low-cost therapy for adults at HQ Therapy Rooms in Hackney. I believe therapy offers a rare space to be truly heard and understood, and I aim to create that space for the people I work with.
I understand how heavy life can sometimes feel, and how reaching out for help can be a difficult step to take. My aim is to create a warm, safe space where you can bring whatever feels important, your thoughts, feelings, and struggles, without fear of judgment.
Therapy gives a chance to pause and reflect, to understand the patterns and experiences that shape your life, and to discover new ways of relating to yourself and others.
Psychodynamic therapy is about looking gently beneath the surface, exploring both the conscious and unconscious influences that shape how we feel and behave. Together, we can make sense of difficult emotions and experiences, building insight and self-compassion along the way.
I have spent several years working in the mental health field, supporting people with depression, trauma, and emotional challenges. These experiences have deepened my understanding of how important it is to feel heard, supported, and understood. They are values that sit at the heart of my work as a therapist.
I hold a degree in Psychology (BSc) and am completing a Master’s in Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy at Goldsmiths, University of London. I’m also a student member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and follow its ethical framework.
Experience and Education:
I have experience volunteering with a charity that works with people who feel life is no longer worth living and who experience suicidal ideation.
I have also worked one-on-one with SEND students at schools in London, providing them with emotional and academic support.
I look forward to supporting you on this journey, as we explore new ways to understand and navigate life’s challenges together.
