Roberto Kilciauskas Humanistic Integrative Counsellor Highbury London N5Roberto Kilciauskas:

Trainee Humanistic Integrative Counsellor (BACP student member)

Hi, my name is Roberto.

As a dedicated student member of the BACP, I am currently working towards a Level 6 Advanced Diploma in Humanistic Integrative Counselling at CPPD, one of the UK’s leading humanistic integrative counselling training schools.

My journey as a mental health practitioner has also included foundations in Freud and Jung’s ideas at the British Psychoanalytic Foundation, followed by further training in Psychotherapy, Counselling & Coaching at Emmy van Deurzen’s New School of Psychotherapy and Counselling.

More recently, I co-founded and currently lead, as a volunteer, a Peer Support Group at the Nightingale Hospital — Central London’s leading private mental health institution, specialising in general mental health, eating disorders, addictions, and OCD.

With a background that includes a BA in Communication and an MBA in Marketing, I bring over 20 years of experience in the communication industry to my counselling practice. My diverse professional journey has equipped me with unique insights into the complexities of both personal and professional life.

Therapy, however, is more than just a theoretical enterprise for me. Having been in therapy for almost half of my life, with professionals from a wide range of modalities, I have experienced first-hand the profound value of this work. It has allowed me to know myself far more deeply than I ever could have done alone, and I see therapy as an essential tool for living more fully.

My integrative approach means I adapt to your individual needs rather than relying on one single method. I draw from Person-Centred, Gestalt, Transactional Analysis, CBT, and Psychodynamic approaches, bringing together the most useful aspects of each to support your healing journey.

With lived experience and a compassionate understanding of each person’s uniqueness, I aim to help you declutter your mind and spirit, allowing the healthy parts of you to grow and flourish. I provide a safe, empathetic space where you can explore difficult thoughts and feelings.

Living in a different culture has enriched my understanding of diverse perspectives, and I am committed to fostering an inclusive and culturally sensitive environment for all clients. I work with a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma (including childhood trauma), stress, grief and loss, low self-esteem, confidence issues, relationship difficulties, family challenges, identity concerns, life transitions, work-related stress, burnout, and creativity blocks.

Whether you are grappling with challenges from the past, present, or future, or searching for your authentic self, I am here to support you.

I offer sessions in English and Portuguese, and I am passionate about helping you find meaning and purpose in your life. Let’s work together to navigate your challenges and move towards a more fulfilling existence.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why Should I Seek Therapy?

Many people, new to this type of help, believe that they need to be suffering from “mental illness” or serious “psychological problems”, or be in crisis in order for therapy and counselling to be appropriate for them. This is a common misconception; anyone can benefit from therapy when it comes to helping you deal with your personal feelings and problems, make positive changes in your life, and understand yourself better.

So what is therapy and counselling? If you’re new to this world then the first steps can sometimes be the most difficult. Therapy can be a very effective treatment for a whole range of personal problems covering areas from physical and emotional problems, different types of behavioural disorders, through to human sexuality issues and a host of wellbeing and complementary therapy techniques.

Any problem you have that is causing you concern, anxiety or distress is a valid and appropriate reason to reach out and find a therapist and talk to them about it. Far from something to be ashamed of, acknowledging your vulnerability and asking for help is a sign of maturity and strength.

If you feel that you have a desire and are committed to making changes in your life in order to overcome your current problems and achieve more long-term satisfaction, psychological wellbeing and personal fulfilment, then you are ready to seek therapy. We are here to help you work through a wide range of therapy issues that might be troubling you.

Will Information About Me Be Safe & Secure?

It is quite normal to be hesitant when it comes to sharing private and intimate information about yourself with a stranger. You may fear that you will receive judgment from your therapist, or that your therapist will share your details with others.

HQ Therapy Rooms takes your privacy and confidentiality very seriously. Our therapists are required to keep everything said in therapy sessions between you, just like your doctor is required to keep your records private.

For therapy to be effective, there must be unconditional trust built between you and your therapist, and this relies on a shared understanding of confidentiality. It applies to the outside world as well: it is standard practice for therapists not to acknowledge their clients if they run into them outside of the therapy rooms in order to help protect their client’s confidentiality. Read our full privacy policy for more information.
