Dr Bethany Crawford:
Clinical Psychologist (HCPC)
My name is Bethany Crawford, and I’m an HCPC-registered Clinical Psychologist offering therapy online and in person at HQ Therapy Haggerston.
My practice is guided by thorough assessment and psychological formulation, ensuring that therapy is rooted in a thoughtful understanding of your experiences and the wider context of your life. Therapy with me typically begins with a collaborative exploration of what has brought you to therapy.
Together, we reflect on how early relationships, life experiences, and coping strategies may have influenced current patterns. With curiosity and compassion, we examine the role these strategies once played, and whether they still serve you, whilst gently exploring new ways of coping and relating to yourself and others.
I work in an integrative way, drawing on trauma-focused, systemic, narrative, and relational therapies, as well as Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT). I also draw from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for certain difficulties. I can provide shorter-term work focused on a particular issue, or longer-term therapy to explore patterns and relationships in more depth.
My approach provides a warm, containing, and collaborative space in which to make sense of difficulties and move towards meaningful change.
I completed my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at University College London, which included extensive clinical training across a range of NHS services. I have supported adults, children, young people, and families across primary and secondary care, CAMHS, learning disability services, veterans’ mental health, and NHS staff wellbeing services.
I have experience working with a broad range of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, trauma (including PTSD and complex PTSD), OCD, relationship challenges, and low self-esteem. I work in a strengths-based, neuroaffirmative way with autistic people and individuals with ADHD.
I also support those navigating questions of identity, experiences of loss, or periods of life transition, including changes in roles, relationships, or circumstances.
I understand that reaching out for support can feel daunting, and starting therapy takes courage. My goal is to create a safe and supportive environment where you feel heard, respected, and understood.
If you feel this could be a good fit for you, get in touch to arrange a free 15-minute consultation, and together we can explore your hopes for therapy.
