Adam Rompel Psychodynamic Therapist London E8Adam Rompel:

Psychodynamic Therapist (BPC)

Hello, my name is Adam Rompel. I am a Psychodynamic Therapist working with adults face-to-face and online.

Something important has brought you therapy. And if that wasn’t enough, now you find yourself wading through bios to find a therapist that you feel will be the right fit for you. What a choice to make! I hope that I can be of help.

Clients I have seen sought help with such topics as: break ups and separation, stress and anxiety, low self-esteem, persistent thoughts, grief and loss, depression, post-addiction support, gender identity, challenges with trust, sexuality, blurred boundaries, sudden life changes and transitions, etc.

Ethos:
From experience with working with clients, I have seen that each of us is unique and this is why I steer clear of using type-casting or labels. I prefer an approach that sees you for the multifaceted individual that you are.

We all come with a wealth of experience and emotions, and how we share and process can be wildly different. My approach is not to diagnose or ‘cure’, but to help you reach a place of increased self-awareness and acceptance. Through conscious listening and some thoughtful questions, I aim to support you in your presenting issue or concern with the intent of developing a deeper understanding of yourself in order to experience a more fulfilling, engaged life.

I am open to anything you wish to raise and am not here to pass judgement or be dismissive, instead, I aim to be curious and present. Together we can reflect on how you are responding to your situation and explore the way you relate to yourself and others. I won’t tell you what to do or give advice but will help you make your own choices.

About me:
Born in North America, I am well-versed in the cultural nuances with both sides of the Atlantic. Fully qualified in London by the British Psychoanalytic Council (BCP) with years of experience working in person and over video. I also have a background in art and later technology, and was drawn to counselling and therapy as a way to help others in a more engaged and satisfying way.

My psychoanalytic studies were specifically in Object Relations but I continually educate myself with other modalities looking to bring the best ideas and practices to the Psychodynamic setting.

What next?
To start, I offer a 20 minute no-cost telephone consultation where we can get a feel for each other. We’ll briefly discuss what is bringing you to therapy, and what expectations or goals you might have, and from this we can decide together how we progress and for how long.

Currently I am seeing individuals on a weekly basis for either face-to-face or online sessions, providing both short-term and open-ended therapy. My fee is £70 per 50-minute session.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why Should I Seek Therapy?

Many people, new to this type of help, believe that they need to be suffering from “mental illness” or serious “psychological problems”, or be in crisis in order for therapy and counselling to be appropriate for them. This is a common misconception; anyone can benefit from therapy when it comes to helping you deal with your personal feelings and problems, make positive changes in your life, and understand yourself better.

So what is therapy and counselling? If you’re new to this world then the first steps can sometimes be the most difficult. Therapy can be a very effective treatment for a whole range of personal problems covering areas from physical and emotional problems, different types of behavioural disorders, through to human sexuality issues and a host of wellbeing and complementary therapy techniques.

Any problem you have that is causing you concern, anxiety or distress is a valid and appropriate reason to reach out and find a therapist and talk to them about it. Far from something to be ashamed of, acknowledging your vulnerability and asking for help is a sign of maturity and strength.

If you feel that you have a desire and are committed to making changes in your life in order to overcome your current problems and achieve more long-term satisfaction, psychological wellbeing and personal fulfilment, then you are ready to seek therapy. We are here to help you work through a wide range of therapy issues that might be troubling you.

Will Information About Me Be Safe & Secure?

It is quite normal to be hesitant when it comes to sharing private and intimate information about yourself with a stranger. You may fear that you will receive judgment from your therapist, or that your therapist will share your details with others.

HQ Therapy Rooms takes your privacy and confidentiality very seriously. Our therapists are required to keep everything said in therapy sessions between you, just like your doctor is required to keep your records private.

For therapy to be effective, there must be unconditional trust built between you and your therapist, and this relies on a shared understanding of confidentiality. It applies to the outside world as well: it is standard practice for therapists not to acknowledge their clients if they run into them outside of the therapy rooms in order to help protect their client’s confidentiality. Read our full privacy policy for more information.
