Ansell Cizic:
Humanistic Psychotherapeutic Counsellor (BACP)
Within the Humanistic framework, my practice is informed by person-centred, Gestalt, and transactional analysis modalities.
I understand that each client that I work with is unique and therefore I recognise that a pluralist approach to the therapeutic process can be of great value. There is no one template that suits all.
As a counsellor/ therapist, I believe my primary function within the therapeutic process is to offer a safe space in which an empathic, authentic, mutually respectful relationship can be developed. This is based on the understanding that you are the foundation on which growth and change can occur.
It is my hope that I can facilitate in this process.
In order to feel free and safe to be vulnerable, my clients need to be assured of the fact that exchanges within the therapeutic alliance are private and, therefore, anonymity is important and is assured.
From a humanistic perspective and more specifically a person-centred frame of reference, the work we do will always be steered by you.
My role is very much about supporting your process of realising and reaching a better understanding of the underlying nature of the difficulties/distress that you may be encountering in your everyday life.
Therapy can provide the opportunity for you to reflect on and examine the defensive, out-of-awareness strategies and mechanisms you employ to keep you safe, but at the same time restrict your growth.
