Ellie Harvey Kummer Integrative Therapist and CoachEllie Harvey:

Integrative Therapist & Coach (MBACP)

Hello, my name is Ellie Harvey and I am an Integrative Therapist and Coach, offering Psychotherapy and Coaching at HQ Therapy Rooms in Haggerston and Dalston, Hackney, London E8.

People come to therapy for many different reasons and at different points in their lives.

You may be feeling stuck in unhelpful thought patterns or behaviours, you may be looking for a safe space to talk about and process difficult emotions and experiences or you may be feeling held back by low self-esteem, a lack of purpose or drive.

Therapy can be a powerful tool for dealing with life’s challenges, working through internal conflicts and exploring what matters most to you in life.

How I work Psychotherapy:
I know that coming to therapy can feel daunting and vulnerable at first. I aim to put you at ease with a genuine, friendly and judgement-free space where you can confidentially explore your challenges and feel comfortable bringing your whole self.

As an integrative practitioner, I am trained in a range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches. This means that I am not tied to one theoretical model and can instead respond to what is working for you, drawing on different tools to support your therapeutic process.

Some of the schools of thought integrated into my practice are; Person-centered, Existential, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic, Transactional Analysis (TA), Gestalt and Solution-focused therapy.

How I work Coaching:
Coaching is a supportive process for discovering goals and actions that build towards the future you want. Many of us don’t take the time to think about what direction we are headed in and whether it is in line with what we truly want for ourselves and our lives.

We may find ourselves too bogged down in day-to-day living to think about and move towards our goals, or perhaps even convince ourselves that our dreams are not realistic or important.

However, it has been shown that even just being more in touch with our dreams, goals and values boosts mental well-being and resilience. Additionally working towards goals that are in line with our values is likely to enhance our satisfaction in life.

As your coach, I will work with you to dig deep to discover the goals that matter most to you and are in line with your intrinsic values. I will then help you explore your options for creating these outcomes and support you in planning and taking action towards them.

I will work collaboratively with you using experimentation to find ways of working that best suit you, drawing on a range of coaching models and tools.

Qualifications and Experience:
I have a Postgraduate Diploma in Integrative Counselling and Coaching from the University of East London and am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

I have a BA Hons degree in Politics and Sociology which has provided me with a thorough understanding and appreciation for social challenges and inequalities.

Additionally, I have over 4 years of experience within NHS mental health services working on a one-to-one basis and in group facilitation. Here I provide empowering support for people dealing with a wide range of challenges, including:

Frequently Asked Questions

Why Should I Seek Therapy?

Many people, new to this type of help, believe that they need to be suffering from “mental illness” or serious “psychological problems”, or be in crisis in order for therapy and counselling to be appropriate for them. This is a common misconception; anyone can benefit from therapy when it comes to helping you deal with your personal feelings and problems, make positive changes in your life, and understand yourself better.

So what is therapy and counselling? If you’re new to this world then the first steps can sometimes be the most difficult. Therapy can be a very effective treatment for a whole range of personal problems covering areas from physical and emotional problems, different types of behavioural disorders, through to human sexuality issues and a host of wellbeing and complementary therapy techniques.

Any problem you have that is causing you concern, anxiety or distress is a valid and appropriate reason to reach out and find a therapist and talk to them about it. Far from something to be ashamed of, acknowledging your vulnerability and asking for help is a sign of maturity and strength.

If you feel that you have a desire and are committed to making changes in your life in order to overcome your current problems and achieve more long-term satisfaction, psychological wellbeing and personal fulfilment, then you are ready to seek therapy. We are here to help you work through a wide range of therapy issues that might be troubling you.

Will Information About Me Be Safe & Secure?

It is quite normal to be hesitant when it comes to sharing private and intimate information about yourself with a stranger. You may fear that you will receive judgment from your therapist, or that your therapist will share your details with others.

HQ Therapy Rooms takes your privacy and confidentiality very seriously. Our therapists are required to keep everything said in therapy sessions between you, just like your doctor is required to keep your records private.

For therapy to be effective, there must be unconditional trust built between you and your therapist, and this relies on a shared understanding of confidentiality. It applies to the outside world as well: it is standard practice for therapists not to acknowledge their clients if they run into them outside of the therapy rooms in order to help protect their client’s confidentiality. Read our full privacy policy for more information.

Can I Contact You For Advice About Getting Therapy?

Talking about your thoughts and feelings with a supportive therapist can often make you feel better and help you face your problems. It feels good to be listened to and to know that someone cares about you and wants to help. It is important that you find a therapist with whom you feel comfortable and can build a trusting relationship to help you make positive changes in your life.

But how do you know what type of therapy is right for you? Taking the first steps in finding the right therapist can be the biggest hurdle for newcomers, so we have made it easy. Simply fill out the form below in confidence, and one of our fully qualified referral therapists can work with you to make sure you connect with the right practitioner and receive the correct therapy and counselling services you require.

Our practitioners deal with a wide range of therapy issues using different types of therapy modalities tailored for the types of clients we work with.
