Ethan Monroe Humanistic Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist London E8Ethan Monroe:

Humanistic Integrative Counsellor & Psychotherapist (BACP)

My name is Ethan Monroe and I am a Humanistic Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist working from HQ Therapy Rooms in Haggerston, Hackney, London E8.

What I love most about counselling and therapy is the opportunity to openly express your thoughts and emotions, without any filters or reservations.

We rarely allow ourselves this experience and I encourage my clients to actively lean into it.

Whether you’re grappling with feelings of emptiness, anxiety, lingering grief, a sense of being stuck, or dissatisfaction within your relationships, be they romantic, familial, or friendships, we can start by acknowledging these emotions together.

I’m here to guide you as a facilitator on your therapeutic path, and in our collaboration, we’ll unearth the resources and understandings that empower you to lead a life rich in fulfillment and purpose.

I will assist you in untangling the intricacies of your present situation, exploring the depths of your identity, experiences, and behavioural traits, and addressing any relationship challenges or repetitive patterns you encounter.

Within a warm and inviting environment, I’ll provide guidance and support as you navigate the changes or personal challenges you wish to confront. I look at our work together like a puzzle – we will explore each piece and find out how they are all connected to make a complete picture.

I frequently collaborate with individuals in the creative arts, and I specialise in various areas. These include assisting those new to counseling/therapy, addressing topics such as sexuality and gender dysphoria, providing support for coping with anxiety and stress, exploring unresolved childhood issues and attachment, navigating complex trauma, managing ADHD, non-monogamy, and processing grief.

Additionally, I offer support to straight cisgender men who are interested in exploring aspects of masculinity and connecting with their deeper emotional experiences.

I have a background in the arts and bring creativity and humour (when appropriate) into the work. I invite you to reach out for a free 15-minute Zoom call to see if we are a good fit.

I am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors & Psychotherapists (MBACP 401057) and I have worked as a therapist in London at METRO, an LGBTQ+ charity, and the CPPD Low-Cost Counselling Service. I am also an Associate Counsellor at Trinity Laban Conservatoire.

My fees:
My standard rate is £65 per 50-minute session. I’m currently seeing clients face-to-face in Haggerston and online (via Zoom).

Frequently Asked Questions

Why Should I Seek Therapy?

Many people, new to this type of help, believe that they need to be suffering from “mental illness” or serious “psychological problems”, or be in crisis in order for therapy and counselling to be appropriate for them. This is a common misconception; anyone can benefit from therapy when it comes to helping you deal with your personal feelings and problems, make positive changes in your life, and understand yourself better.

So what is therapy and counselling? If you’re new to this world then the first steps can sometimes be the most difficult. Therapy can be a very effective treatment for a whole range of personal problems covering areas from physical and emotional problems, different types of behavioural disorders, through to human sexuality issues and a host of wellbeing and complementary therapy techniques.

Any problem you have that is causing you concern, anxiety or distress is a valid and appropriate reason to reach out and find a therapist and talk to them about it. Far from something to be ashamed of, acknowledging your vulnerability and asking for help is a sign of maturity and strength.

If you feel that you have a desire and are committed to making changes in your life in order to overcome your current problems and achieve more long-term satisfaction, psychological wellbeing and personal fulfilment, then you are ready to seek therapy. We are here to help you work through a wide range of therapy issues that might be troubling you.

Will Information About Me Be Safe & Secure?

It is quite normal to be hesitant when it comes to sharing private and intimate information about yourself with a stranger. You may fear that you will receive judgment from your therapist, or that your therapist will share your details with others.

HQ Therapy Rooms takes your privacy and confidentiality very seriously. Our therapists are required to keep everything said in therapy sessions between you, just like your doctor is required to keep your records private.

For therapy to be effective, there must be unconditional trust built between you and your therapist, and this relies on a shared understanding of confidentiality. It applies to the outside world as well: it is standard practice for therapists not to acknowledge their clients if they run into them outside of the therapy rooms in order to help protect their client’s confidentiality. Read our full privacy policy for more information.
