Georgina Georgiou Trainee Humanistic Integrative Counsellor London E8Georgina Georgiou:

Trainee Humanistic Integrative Counsellor (BACP student member)

My name is Georgina Georgiou, I am a trainee Humanistic Integrative Counsellor working in the low-cost therapy and counselling service at HQ Therapy Rooms in Haggerston and Dalston, Hackney, London E8.

I am currently studying for an Advanced Diploma in Humanistic Integrative Counselling at CPPD Counselling School, and working towards accreditation with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

As a student member of the BACP, I adhere to the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions, which provides the values and principles that inform my counselling practice.

My approach:
My therapeutic approach is Humanistic Integrative Counselling which focuses on the individual as a whole and draws on a range of different types of therapy and techniques including Person-Centred TherapyCognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)Transactional Analysis (TA) and Gestalt Therapy.

I believe that every client is unique, and by drawing on a range of different modalities, my approach can be adapted to best suit the needs of each individual client.

I aim to provide clients with genuine warmth and empathy, and I value open and honest communication. I aim to work collaboratively with clients to better understand all aspects of themselves, including their lived experience, background, and culture.

I provide a trusting, supportive, and non-judgmental space for clients to develop their capacity for self-development, creativity, self-awareness, and growth. I offer a safe and confidential space for each person to speak freely, explore possibilities and be heard.

I am happy for our work together to be guided by your goals, at a pace that feels right for you, and I look forward to being part of your journey of self-exploration.

My background:
I have worked for many years in disability services with adults in higher education experiencing a range of long-term conditions, such as mental health (e.g., anxiety, depression), physical health, SpLD (dyslexia, dyspraxia), ADHD, ASD/Autism, sensory impairment, mobility difficulties.

My work with clients who experience complex needs has provided me with the insight that everyone’s struggles are unique, and I believe strongly that equality of opportunity is essential for all.

I have experience in Structural Life Coaching in private practice, working with clients in a solution-focused way. This work has helped me reflect on the importance of supporting clients to grow and achieve their goals through small and manageable tasks.

I conduct my sessions in English, but also speak Greek. I am currently available to work with short-term and long-term clients via in-person appointments or online (e.g., Zoom).

Frequently Asked Questions

Why Should I Seek Therapy?

Many people, new to this type of help, believe that they need to be suffering from “mental illness” or serious “psychological problems”, or be in crisis in order for therapy and counselling to be appropriate for them. This is a common misconception; anyone can benefit from therapy when it comes to helping you deal with your personal feelings and problems, make positive changes in your life, and understand yourself better.

So what is therapy and counselling? If you’re new to this world then the first steps can sometimes be the most difficult. Therapy can be a very effective treatment for a whole range of personal problems covering areas from physical and emotional problems, different types of behavioural disorders, through to human sexuality issues and a host of wellbeing and complementary therapy techniques.

Any problem you have that is causing you concern, anxiety or distress is a valid and appropriate reason to reach out and find a therapist and talk to them about it. Far from something to be ashamed of, acknowledging your vulnerability and asking for help is a sign of maturity and strength.

If you feel that you have a desire and are committed to making changes in your life in order to overcome your current problems and achieve more long-term satisfaction, psychological wellbeing and personal fulfilment, then you are ready to seek therapy. We are here to help you work through a wide range of therapy issues that might be troubling you.

Will Information About Me Be Safe & Secure?

It is quite normal to be hesitant when it comes to sharing private and intimate information about yourself with a stranger. You may fear that you will receive judgment from your therapist, or that your therapist will share your details with others.

HQ Therapy Rooms takes your privacy and confidentiality very seriously. Our therapists are required to keep everything said in therapy sessions between you, just like your doctor is required to keep your records private.

For therapy to be effective, there must be unconditional trust built between you and your therapist, and this relies on a shared understanding of confidentiality. It applies to the outside world as well: it is standard practice for therapists not to acknowledge their clients if they run into them outside of the therapy rooms in order to help protect their client’s confidentiality. Read our full privacy policy for more information.
