Gurleen Bhandari Psychodynamic Psychotherapist and Counsellor London E8Gurleen Bhandari:

Psychodynamic Psychotherapist & Counsellor (BACP)

Hello and welcome. My name is Gurleen Bhandari and I am a qualified Psychodynamic Psychotherapist, with a passion for helping individuals navigate life’s challenges.

My practice is based in HQ Therapy Rooms in Hackney, London E8.  I am an accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and therefore am committed to working within their ethical framework.

With a solid foundation in Psychology and extensive training in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, I offer a safe and supportive space for exploration, understanding, and healing.

How I Work:
In my practice, I prioritize building a trusting and collaborative therapeutic relationship. Drawing from psychodynamic principles, I delve into the unconscious dynamics that shape our thoughts, feelings, and behaviours.

Together, we explore early experiences, relational patterns, and unconscious conflicts to gain insight into present difficulties and foster lasting change.

My approach is compassionate, non-judgmental, and tailored to each individual’s unique needs and goals.

I am currently only offering sessions to clients online (Stripe, Skype, Google Meet, etc).

Experience and Qualifications:
I hold a Distinction in my MA in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy and Counselling, complemented by a BA in Psychology. My academic background provides a solid understanding of human behaviour and psychological processes, enriching my therapeutic practice.

In addition to my formal education, I bring valuable work experience from diverse clinical settings. I’ve worked in social work settings, supporting children and families through complex transitions and trauma. Additionally, my counselling placements took place at St Mungo’s, a homelessness charity, where I gained a deep understanding into the world of complex trauma.

My private practice continues to evolve, and I love to work with different cultural backgrounds, aiming to provide you with a safe space to explore your thoughts and feelings without judgement.

Areas of Expertise:
I specialize in addressing a wide range of issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, identity exploration, and more. Whether you’re grappling with past wounds, navigating life transitions, or seeking deeper self-understanding, I’m here to support you on your journey towards healing and growth.

Additionally, I have been trained through an intersectional approach, addressing the complexities of identity and how unique we are as individuals, but also as communities.

Fees and Contact:
My standard fee for individual therapy sessions is £65 for a 50-minute session. Please feel free to reach out via email to schedule an initial free 10-minute consultation or inquire further about my services.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why Should I Seek Therapy?

Many people, new to this type of help, believe that they need to be suffering from “mental illness” or serious “psychological problems”, or be in crisis in order for therapy and counselling to be appropriate for them. This is a common misconception; anyone can benefit from therapy when it comes to helping you deal with your personal feelings and problems, make positive changes in your life, and understand yourself better.

So what is therapy and counselling? If you’re new to this world then the first steps can sometimes be the most difficult. Therapy can be a very effective treatment for a whole range of personal problems covering areas from physical and emotional problems, different types of behavioural disorders, through to human sexuality issues and a host of wellbeing and complementary therapy techniques.

Any problem you have that is causing you concern, anxiety or distress is a valid and appropriate reason to reach out and find a therapist and talk to them about it. Far from something to be ashamed of, acknowledging your vulnerability and asking for help is a sign of maturity and strength.

If you feel that you have a desire and are committed to making changes in your life in order to overcome your current problems and achieve more long-term satisfaction, psychological wellbeing and personal fulfilment, then you are ready to seek therapy. We are here to help you work through a wide range of therapy issues that might be troubling you.

Will Information About Me Be Safe & Secure?

It is quite normal to be hesitant when it comes to sharing private and intimate information about yourself with a stranger. You may fear that you will receive judgment from your therapist, or that your therapist will share your details with others.

HQ Therapy Rooms takes your privacy and confidentiality very seriously. Our therapists are required to keep everything said in therapy sessions between you, just like your doctor is required to keep your records private.

For therapy to be effective, there must be unconditional trust built between you and your therapist, and this relies on a shared understanding of confidentiality. It applies to the outside world as well: it is standard practice for therapists not to acknowledge their clients if they run into them outside of the therapy rooms in order to help protect their client’s confidentiality. Read our full privacy policy for more information.
