Sylvia Cowell
Registered Psychotherapist (MBACP)
My name is Sylvia Cowell, and I am a qualified Psychotherapist and Clinical Supervisor, registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) working in private practice from HQ Therapy Rooms in Hackney, E8.
Do you feel that you can’t talk to anyone? Do you feel that your feelings don’t matter to those around you? Do you feel that you are tired of pretending you are strong and don’t need help? Are unsatisfied in your relationships due to sexual problems?
I would love to help you talk about your feelings, get in touch with who you are and what you need from others in your life. I can help you build your inner resilience and learn to be compassionate to yourself. I can help you with your low moods, anxiety, and stress. I can also help you to have a more positive and satisfying sexual relationship.
Are you struggling with substance abuse and addiction problems such as alcohol, drugs, gambling, sex or love addictions or are you in recovery? Is addictive behaviour ruining your relationships or do you have fears for a member of the family?
I can work with you to support your recovery or help you access the help you need.
My Approach:
I use traditional Psychodynamic and Psychoanalytical counselling skills, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy tools, Transactional Analysis (TA) and Motivational Interviewing. I help you to identify the negative thoughts and behaviours that are harming your self-esteem and your relationships and work with you to make changes.
I will help you to challenge your anxieties and help you get in touch with being able to express how you feel instead of bottling it up. I will work with you whether you want only a set number of sessions for something specific or for as many sessions as you want.
I am currently seeing clients face to face, online (Zoom, Skype, etc) and on the phone.
Qualifications:
I am registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and I work within their ethical framework and code of conduct. I am also a member of Addictions Professionals and I have completed clinical training at Birkbeck, London University; Institute of Group Analysis and Tavistock Relationships.
My fees:
I charge £50 for an initial consultation session which lasts 60 minutes. If you decide to continue with further sessions the fees are as follows:
Psychotherapy or Counselling £60
Relationship or Couples Therapy £90
Addictions Counselling or Support £100
