Self-development can mean many things. At work, you may be expected to pursue personal development in terms of your professional skills, or you may have desires for yourself such as learning new skills, pursuing personal goals, or developing your mind or body in order to restore and develop your embodiment and empowerment abilities.

Research has shown that high levels of stress and anxiety are not only bad for our health and well-being, but they can also prevent us from effectively pursuing and achieving our self-development goals.

With such a wealth of opportunities and ideas clamouring for attention, it can be hard to know where to start. But the development of the self can be as big or as small as you like. Learning to be mindful and stay present in the moment, taking each day as it comes helps you develop yourself to be more resilient.

It might mean taking a cooking class, joining a local yoga group, or following some mindfulness or meditation guidance on YouTube and possibly taking some life coaching therapy.

At HQ Therapy, all of our therapists, counsellors and practitioners are interested in supporting your self-growth. In this section, you will find writings from our therapists relating to self-development, with links to forms of support that you can access to help you.
